LAHORE: Pakistan-origin London Mayor Sadiq Khan has reached Pakistan early this Wednesday morning on a one-day visit.
Sadiq Khan, who is a very active user of Twitter, entered Lahore from India via the Wagah Border Crossing.
Mayor Lahore Col (retd) Mubashar accompanied with senior government officials welcomed the London mayor at the border.
Before leaving Delhi, he posted a video of himself on Twitter praising his productive 24 hours that he spent in India.
Sadiq Khan is the first mayor of London who visited both India and Pakistan as part of his plans to promote closer ties between the two countries with boost to trade with Britain.
Earlier, London Mayor announced a six-day tour to visit the cities of the two countries including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Amritsar.
Talking to Pakistani media in London, Sadiq Khan said that British Pakistanis made London the greatest city in the world.
Saying that he was looking forward to his trip to Pakistan, Khan asserted, “I am already proud of the contribution made to our great city of the world — London of British Pakistanis.”
