ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior Wednesday allowed disapproved International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) to continue work till final decision is taken on their appeals.
Minister for Interior, Prof Ahsan Iqbal has issued order in this regard keeping in view present operational affairs of INGOs and country’s image at international level, a statement issued here said.
It is mentioned here that the INGOs are entitled to appeal within 90 days after disapproval of their registration. If the appeal is rejected, the INGOs will have to leave the country within 60 days.
Senate body seeks details of NGOs working in FATA
Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions has sought details of local and International Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The meeting was held here at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Hilal ur Rehman, Chairman of the Committee.
Members of the committee Senators Muhammad Saleh Shah, Taj Muhammad Afridi, Haji Momin Khan Afridi, Hidayatullah, Sajjad Tori, Malik Najmul Hassan, Ahmad Ahsan and Khanzada Khan attended the meeting.
It was also attended by Minister of State for SAFRON Ghalib Khan Wazir, senior officials of Ministry and FATA Secretariate.
The committee taking notice regarding ignoring local in jobs by NGOs, issued directives that the record of these NGOs should be presented before the committee.
Member of the committee, Senator Saleh Shah staged token walk out to protest ignoring local by NGOs in provision of jobs.
The committee also directed the ministry to ensure merit in retirement, pensions and inductions of Levy Force.
The committee constituted a sub-committee in convenership of Senator Saleh Shah to look into the matters of Levy Force.
Senator Hidayatullah, Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi will be members of the sub-committee.
Additional Chief Secretary FATA informed that available record of NGOs would be shared with the committee.
Earlier, senior officials of Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) also briefed the committee regarding extension in service of the employee of Khyber Levi Force, Khyber Agency.
