ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday held a meeting with his predecessor Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, his office said.
During the meeting, current political situation came under discussion, the PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
According to sources, the former premier’s decision to travel to Lahore via GT Road was discussed.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) mayors and deputy mayors announced that they would join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally at D-Chowk.
According to the plan, the rally led by former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will leave from D-Chowk at 10 am Wednesday.
The rally will move from Blue Area to Zero Point where other groups, including former MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan with PML-N workers from his constituency, will join it.
Talking to APP, Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Naqvi said local government representatives from Islamabad had displayed big size banners and pena-flexes along the GT Road in favour of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He said a large number of PML-N workers would join the rally to show their support for their beloved leader. He said after Zero Point the rally would move towards Saddar, Rawalpindi, through Faizabad and Murree Road.
At Faizabad and Kachehri Chowk in Rawalpindi rallies led by local leadership would join the Caravan (rally), he added.
Sources say that PML-N’s workers have been barred from going to Punjab House.
